Well today was a disappointment, I learned this morning that my shift had been cancelled. Unfortunate as I thought for sure that today would have been much busier than the 4th February when I sat around all day waiting for a transportation request. That day I was posted to the somewhat generic Cassandra Hotel on Kingsway, supposedly to transport media members to/from the Joyce Skytrain station, the "bus" drivers were off work that day and 12 passenger vans were instead brought in, with us as drivers. ONE person all day requested a ride, and since my partner was pulling up and already running, he did the trip. The day itself was beautiful, a typical Vancouver day albeit not quite what we are wishing for to host the "winter" Olympics. I was hoping this week would have been a bit more exciting, maybe tomorrow. My shift runs from 2:30 pm- 12:30 am. I will park at Scott Road skytrain to ensure a ride at somewhere 1:00-2:00 am that I anticipate to arrive home. I am awaiting word tonight on how my mom, sister and nieces enjoyed the opening ceremonies rehearsal tonight. Volunteers were given a free ticket, and...... a nicely labelled Jackson Triggs merlot on our way out of picking up our tix. Nice bonus, it goes on the shelf with the collector bottle of Coke received on the torch run last Friday. Will tell that story next time as it is definitely worthy of it's own post!!! We almost made it to Argentina.
